In Love With Brooches...

Bonjour blogland!!! Lately I have been obsessed with making brooches. It all started a few weeks ago when I was looking for something to pair up with a black blazer I wanted to wear. I wanted to grab a fabulous old and unique, over the top brooch to wear with it. The only problem was, I hadn't made any yet. So that got me on this roll with brooches. They are fantastic in the fact that they are so versatile! You can wear them anywhere and they look good on anything!!! Unlike necklaces or earrings, brooches can be pinned anywhere for an instant upgrade to any outfit, handbag, or coat. They can also be turned into a centerpiece pendant for your favorite vintage chain. What fun and endless possibilities brooches provide for the everyday attire. Here are a couple I have finished working on...

...and some pieces I am currently working on....

War Horse has been so well received, there are more pieces dedicated to him also...

...and I have some more earrings coming to Etsy this evening...

...stay tuned...will post more on the brooches in the days to come. I'm having so much fun making these little baubles and will show you here first my newest designs from the my latest and most current obsession!
Au Revoir for now!!!

Celebrating Half a Century...

Hello my blog friends!!! Just thought I would share a few pictures with you of my husbands surprise 50th birthday party! I really got him good this year and caught him off guard. He was so surprised and touched by the party, I think I saw him tear up just a little and I know he enjoyed the evening...

...the cake was my idea, it was the second best thing from renting an actual hearse and driving him around town that night. Haha...

There was plenty of these types of gifts...
...you know, the fun kinda gifts that constantly remind you of being "over the hill".

...Jazz Hands!!!

That darn "50" followed us around all night, and I really felt like it was sneakin' up to get me!! LOL

We set off every fire alarm in the building that night lighting the cake!

Remember this old thing...
...well, one week later and many trips back and forth to the hardware store to get the right size screws for the ancient brackets that held the top on to the base...
We came up with this...

..and yes the top is pink and I LOVE IT!!! It matches my art room walls and it is so happy and cheerful!

I even found time to line the drawers with some nice French inspired paper...

It was a project, but it was worth it!!!

....and here are a few new pair of earrings going to my Etsy shop, inspired by that sweet little
"jour de l'amour" coming up next week...

Well mes amis, have a wonderful weekend!!! Be sure to check back with me in a few days because I will be posting some pictures of  Birmingham Fashion Week that I am attending tomorrow with Mary Kay. Her beautiful jewelry is being featured on the runway and we have been invited to the show. This should be exciting, as I have never seen a live runway show and especially one featuring my friend's jewelry.
Take care and see you back here real soon!!!
