Victorians loved their insect and nature inspired jewelry, and so do I!!! You will notice it is a recurring theme in my work and I find great inspiration from all things that once crawled, fluttered or flew. Victorian's inspiration for their insect jewelry came from the openings of natural history museums, Victoria and Albert's stunning Crystal Palace Exposition of the late 1800's, and explorations of faraway islands abroad. It was not uncommon for women of the time period to wear real authentic bugs on their lapels, ear lobes, or even in their locks....

Always enjoy seeing your latest pretty creations.
Many, many years ago, I remember there was a lot of the faux scarab
jewelry around. Don't remember if I ever owned a piece or not.
How amazing is this post? I never really thought about the fascination with insects in jewelry but now that I think about it, so true. Butterflies and bees...it's nice to see the different side of pieces.
You never cease to amaze me.
